The Borden Family Resource Centre (BFRC) has an enthusiastic, energetic and dedicated group of volunteers on their Board of Directors. This board consists of at least 51% military spouses, with the remaining being serving or retired CF members, and Ex-Officios. The Board of Directors is responsible for developing policies, reviewing community needs assessments, evaluating programs and services, directing Centre staff and operations through the Executive Director, and acting as Ambassadors for the Centre.
The Board has three (3) active committees including Human Resource (HR), Public Relations (PR) and Finance, each with a dynamic group of members working to encourage positive growth in the Centre. These volunteers make decisions that provide leadership and direction to the Centre, assume financial responsibility, develop policies, provide strategic planning, implement communication strategies to keep the community informed of programming and services, as well as seek creative solutions to meet the changing needs of our community.
There are many benefits to volunteering…learning new skills, making new friends, sharing triumphs and laughter, developing leadership skills, improving your health, achieving personal satisfaction, sharing your unique talents and making a positive contribution to your community – just to name a few! And these skills are transferable to your everyday life whether its home or work.
Are you interested in joining one of our committees or the Board of Directors? Contact the Volunteer Coordinator at the BFRC for more information on how to become a part of this exciting team. I look forward to meeting you!
