Deployment childcare is available for families experiencing a deployment while the military member is away from Edmonton Garrison for a period of more than 28 days due to a military commitment.

The Deployment Childcare program offers child care to the community which promotes child growth and development and gives parents the opportunity to have a break from the job of parenting, attend appointments, complete errands, volunteer within the MFRC, or simply have time to relax.

Available for children from birth to 12 years of age, the Deployment Childcare program provides children with opportunities to interact with their peers while expanding their abilities in all areas of development. The Child Care Workers have various levels of education and experience with all ages of children and provide a wide range of activities for children to enjoy. Activities involving art, language, fine and gross motor skills, and cognitive, social, and emotional development are available in rooms with toys and equipment appropriate to their ages.

There is no charge for this service for military families who qualify.

Families of deployed military members may choose up to two 6-hour sessions, or four 3-hour sessions per month (total of 12 hours per family), including the designated Deployment Childcare dates and/or Casual Care dates. Space is limited and based upon availability.

Space is available for deployed families in our regular Casual Care program:

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays
Morning Session:  9:00 a.m - Noon
Afternoon Session:  Noon - 3:00 p.m.
All Day: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m

Deployment Childcare - Saturdays:
Childcare is available for deployed families twice per month for children aged 19 months to 12 years. Registration for Saturday deployment sessions opens two weeks prior to session date.

Morning Session:  9:00 a.m - Noon
Afternoon Session:  Noon - 3:00 p.m.
All Day: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m
