One of their mottos is "Better Thinking, Better Listening, Better Speaking" and they are in the business of helping people gain confidence and overcome the fear of speaking in public. They are TOASTMASTERS and the Military Family Resource Centre is pleased to announce we will be sponsoring a new Chapter of Toastmasters, at the MFRC this spring. Our kick-off meeting is scheduled for 12:00 noon sharp, on March 21st, 2012 in the MFRC multi-purpose room.
Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. Their membership is 270,000 strong and there are over 13,000 clubs worldwide. Toastmasters generally brings up the thought of public speaking, but it's really so much more than that. The skills and confidence one can gain through the Toastmasters Educational experience are very often and for many people, life changing.
Our new Chapter will be meeting each Wednesday at Noon sharp and visitors are always welcome. No obligation, just come by share the hour with us, and we'll be pleased to share the experience with you.

Standard First Aid
Due to community demand, we are now offering a full two day Standard First Aid course on June 9 & 10 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. both days for $140.00 per person. (Please note the previous recertification course will not be held due to low registration numbers). This course will recognize and provide intervention for life threatening emergencies until medical help arrives (choking, shock, unconscious, severe bleeding, CPR for adult casualties and resuscitation for infants and children. Must be 12 years and older. Please register by June 1.
Second Language Training
This program helps interested military spouses learn English in a structured environment. Placement tests are mandatory for new students ($35 for non military spouses).
When: Two evenings per week

Fee: $50 for military spouses (refundable upon meeting attendance criteria) and $100 for other interested participants

Online Second Language Training
This program helps interested military spouses learn French, English or any other language through Rosetta Stone, an online program. Online language training is to increase language training opportunities and to provide improved service to families of CF personnel.
