The Job Placement Program provides practical help and job-finding support to help find a new career. The program focuses on three key services:
Career Transition Workshops - members can attend at any time during their career and do not need to apply to VAC. Members can register directly on the Contractor’s website. There is no restriction on the number of times a member attends a Workshop. The Workshops are 2 full days offered on or near the base/wing. Workshops cover, Career Assessment, Résumé Basics, Job Search Strategy and Techniques and Interview and Negotiation Strategies.
One-on-One Career Coaching - still serving members must submit a request for release signed by the appropriate authority (commanding or administrative officer in most cases) to be eligible for this phase.
Members/Veterans must apply to VAC and can only access this phase of the program once per qualifying service period. The One-on-One Career Coaching c omponent helps identify interests and transferable skills, builds an individualized job strategy, practices résumé writing and interview skills, assesses opportunities to determine the right ‘fit’, manages the first 90 days of a new job and explores self employment or retirement planning.
