The identity of FIL clients and the information provided by them will not be shared with any other person outside the FIL office unless required by law or at the request of the client. Keep in mind that FIL counsellors are required to contact appropriate authorities whenever they believe someone is a serious threat to themselves or to others and in all cases of suspected child abuse.
The FIL must also comply with the requirements of the Federal Privacy Act, which deals with the collection, retention, use, storage and disclosure of personal information, and all FIL employees must sign a confidentiality agreement at the beginning of their employment with the FIL.
