GMFRC Welcome Program

The Greenwood MFRC would like all new families posted to Greenwood to be aware of the Welcome Program.  Here are the different program components geared to welcome and orient 14 Wing newcomers and their families.

Greenwood Welcome Package
The Greenwood Welcome Package is filled with information, which provides the new member/family with relevant information about their new community prior to their arrival to Greenwood or shortly thereafter and to ease the transition from one community to another. For example, 14 Wing Greenwood infrastructures and services, the Greenwood GMFRC programs and services, as well as contact information needed during the family’s relocation (essential services, doctors/dentists, schools, Wing Clubs…) and regional and provincial tourism information and more…

How to obtain copies of the Welcome Package
Wing Sponsors can pick up WP at the GMFRC front desk located at the AVM Morfee Centre on School Road. Sponsors can also place their order through email at Nicole.Godin@forces.gc.ca and the package will be sent through internal base mail.  You will need to provide the member's name; squadron or section posted to; and date of arrival.  This information is only for statistical purposes and to avoid duplication.  Members, or their family members, may request one through email or telephone. If the member hasn’t received a package prior to his or her arrival, they will be offered one when clearing in at the GMFRC.

Virtual Welcome Package
In addidtion to the paper format, the GMFRC maintains a Virtual WP.  As you can see on the right hand side of this page, you will find links to 14 Wing, Community Partners, and local organizations.  This is an excellent way for members and their family living outside the province to access various local, regional and provincial related resources available on line.

New Arrivals Registration
Each CF Member newly posted to 14 Wing Greenwood is required to clear in at the GMFRC Front desk. The member has to complete a New Arrival Registration Form to provide us with necessary information so we can offer appropriate Welcome Services to them and their family and give them opportunities to connect with members of their new community. The information collected is only used for purpose for which it was collected and is protected under the Military Family Services Privacy Code.

Welcome Tour and Welcome Gift
Each CF Member newly posted to 14 Wing Greenwood is required to sign-in at the GMFRC Front Desk. While here, the member will be given a coupon inviting them and their family to come in to the GMFRC for a welcome tour.  This is a wonderful opportunity for trained GMFRC staff to provide information to the family about the programs and services offered at your GMFRC.  During your tour you will be presented with a wlecome gift from the GMFRC.

Tours of the GMFRC for new arrivals are conducted on a daily basis between 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday. Evening tours are also available on Monday to Wednesday evenings between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. from September to June.

GMFRC Welcome Calls
To inform and connect family members with our programs and services, Welcome Calls and follow-up contacts are available for those interested. CF Members may request that a phone call be placed to their family to welcome them to the area. This question is asked on the GMFRC New Arrivals Registration Form. Only those who have responded with a YES on the form will receive a Welcome Call from a GMFRC Representative.

Greenwood 101
Have you been posted to 14 Wing Greenwood this summer? Would you like to find out what is available in the Greenwood/Kingston areas? Would you like to go on a tour of the Area? If you have answered yes to one or all of the questions, than this if for you. GMFRC Greenwood 101 is a new component of the Welcome Program to welcome and orient families to their new community, to offer opportunities to newcomers to connect and socialize, and to ease the transition.
