Drop-In Programs for Youth

Youth Centre Drop-In- FREE

Get ready for fun of all kinds. Join us for music, friends, adventure and much more! We switch it up every time, so that you never get bored. Check out the monthly calendars to get the details of what is happening.


Wednesdays
Pre-Teens: 4 – 6:30 p.m.,
Teens: 6:30 – 9 p.m.

Saturday Drop-In- FREE

Grab your friends and head on over to the Youth Centre. You can play games, do a craft, play some pool, or browse the Internet. It’s your day, so use it your way!

Ongoing Activities  

Gamer Delight- FREE

Love to play video games? Want to play on a big screen with all of your friends? Come on down to the Youth Centre! You can even bring your own game system and games if you would like. Battle it out like pros in a night that is just for gamers.

Art Club- FREE

Have you always wanted to learn how to draw? Do you love to paint? Want to do some cool arts and crafts? The Youth Centre offers an Art Club, where you can come, have an art lesson if you want, or just use the time to do some crafts. If you are working on something at home, feel free to bring it here and work on it while listening to music, laughing with friends and seeing what other people are up to. For older youth who are looking to get their art portfolio started, this is a great opportunity to get some feedback and learn new techniques.

Teen Zumba Class- FREE

The fitness craze that is taking over fitness clubs everywhere is now offered in Uplands! Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. There is no other fun like a Zumba Fitness-Party. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating, often building a deep-rooted community among returning participants

Friday Movie Night- FREE

Want to watch the latest movies? Come over to the Youth Centre to watch the latest movies out on video and remember, the munchies are free too!

Open Gym Program- FREE

Dodge ball, tag, octopus, basketball, we play it all at Open Gym on Tuesday and Thursday evenings! Uplands EPPS, Gym

The program will run until Thursday, Dec. 22 and start once more on Tuesday, January 10.

Winter Special Events 

NEW! Self Defence Workshop for Girls
Cost: $5.00

 For girls between the ages of 10 and 19. Self defence teaches important life skills and gives youth a sense of empowerment in today’s society. This class will teach girls how to take control of situations, teach positive habits and discipline. Spaces are limited.

Registration and payment is due by Friday January 13.

Saturday, January 21, 1 – 5 p.m. 
Location: Kanata Black Belt Excellence Martial Arts Academy, 62 Stonehaven Dr.
Registration and payment is due by Friday January 20.

Saturday February 4, 1 – 5 p.m.
Location: MFRC Youth Centre
Registration and payment is due by Friday February 3.

PD Day Drop-In
Cost: $2.00  

For teens between the ages of 13 and 19. Hang out with your friends, play pool, surf the net, watch a movie, the possibilities are endless. Some snacks will be provided.

Cost: $2.00

Dress up in your most fashionable and formal duds and shake your groove thing to the best beats at the best place!

Weekend Youth Sporting Adventures in Québec City
Cost: to be determined

Open to youth between 12 and 18 years old. Join us for an action-packed weekend in beautiful Québec City!  Trip includes: A day at the Québec Winter Carnival, full-day pass to Village Vacances Valcartier (snow tubing, go karting on ice), shopping in Old Québec City (must bring own spending money), round trip transportation, accommodation for 2 nights, meals and admission to all activities.

Parent Information Evening: February 7, 7 p.m.

Departure: Friday, February 10 at 5 p.m.

Return: Sunday, February 12 at 8 p.m.

Registration and payment must be received by Friday, February 3.

Cost: $35.00

There will be no sleeping on this night! Bring a friend to find out who really is the best. A snack will be provided, however bringing your own drinks and snacks is highly recommended. Spaces are limited

Community Involvement Programs

Community Youth Council

For youth 12 and older. This committee meets once a month to discuss youth programming in the community.

MFRC Youth Centre, Tuesdays: Jan 17, and Feb 21 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

New members are always welcome, and refreshments are provided
