Program Overview
The goal of the courses is to provide civilian CF family members with a working knowledge of their second language. The courses concentrate on oral communication. The curriculum is based on the Canadian Forces second language training (although it has been modified for civilians). The course runs twice weekly for six hours a week. A certificate is presented upon the completion of a module (60 hours).
Program Details
The French Language courses are offered in Orleans, Connaught Ranges, Uplands, and on Coventry road. Classes require a minimum of five participants to a maximum of ten with priority being given to civilian Canadian Forces (CF) family members, however vacant positions may be offerd to CF personnel and/or non CF family participants in order to reach minimum participation level.
A deposit of $50.00 is required but will be reimbursed to civilian CF family members if he or she attends 85 percent of the classes. Students who are serving military members will not be reimbursed. Reimbursements will not be given after the first class or if the participant fails to attend 85 percent of the classes. Changing to another class level or location after classes begin is dependent on the availability of spaces.
Retired military members and the general public must pay $100.00 to register, and we are unable to reimburse their fee.
Families of CF personnel can be reimbursed for 50 percent of their child care expenses. An original receipt (including the hours and wages paid) will be required. Reimbursements must be requested by the end of a semester.
