The Military Family Resource Centre of the National Capital Region (MFRC-NCR) offers health and wellness activities and programs that are tailored to community needs. Our aim is to inform Canadian Forces families about health and wellness issues that affect them personally.
Prevention and Intervention Services
The Canadian Forces lifestyle introduces unique challenges to our serving families. Our Prevention and Intervention Services Team is there to assist the families of Canadian Forces members by providing a broad range of preventive activities and support services during difficult situations or periods of crisis. The services dispensed as part of this program are free of charge within the National Capital Region.

Available Services
We offer a variety of services to meet the needs of families in crisis. We offer individual meetings and/or support groups. Confidentiality is assured. We also have a Resource Library and information available.
If a service you require is not listed below, contact us and we will put you in touch with someone who can help. Our services are confidential and free of charge, and include:
- Short-term counselling (up to six sessions) for individuals and families facing problems directly linked to Canadian Forces life;
- Referrals to professional and community resources, including services in the civilian community;
- Mutual aid groups (self-help groups); and
- Activities to boost awareness in schools about the stress introduced to children in Canadian Forces families.

Operational Stress Injury Social Support Program
An Operational Stress Injury (OSI) is defined as any persistent psychological difficulty resulting from the operational duties performed by a member of the Canadian Forces. The term OSI describes a host of problems, including anxiety, major depression, alcohol or substance abuse, and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
