The Military Family Resource Centre of the National Capital Region (MFRC-NCR) is a community based non-profit charitable organization established to provide information, support and referral. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of military families and to give them opportunities to enhance their quality of life. Military families can access services as a family unit, individually or in groups.
The MFRC-NCR is a rather unique MFRC because it is not part of a base, but rather is part of the CF Support Unit, which serves National Defense Headquarters. In addition to the organizational differences, less than 1000 of the 7500 regular force members and reservists live in military housing. This housing is located at Uplands. The remaining families are scattered throughout the National Capital Region in a radius of about 60 km.
A full range of services (universal and site-specific) are offered at Uplands, and additional programs are offered in Gatineau, Orleans, Kanata and Carleton Place. The MFRC-NCR is working hard to bring about the existence of two satellite offices in Quebec and Orleans to better meet the needs of the large number of families living in these communities.
