NMFC presents to Armed Forces Council on macro-level assessment of family services: The presentation encompassed a broad-based, qualitative assessment of the services available to military families as well as gauging the effectiveness in delivery of services to our families. The Council provided recommendations to the Armed Forces Council, focusing on solutions that build on the strength of existing services and that lend to families feeling connected, supported, and achieving greater resiliency
NMFC meets with Environmental Commands: NMFC members hosted Director General Air Personnel BGen Neville Russell and Director General Navy Personnel , Commodore John Newton on 6 November, discussing issues of importance to military families within the Navy and Air Force elements. NMFC plans to engage the Army environment in the near future.

CMP introduced NMFC to all Base-Wing Commanders: CMP wrote a letter to all Base-Wing Commanders, introducing NMFC and their official Terms of Reference and Member Document.
CDS tasked NMFC to look at macro-level, qualitative assessment of services to families: CDS asked NMFC members to provide, at the November 2011 presentation to Armed Forces Council, a “family lens” assessment of the matrix of all services to military families.
Developed advice to CDS and Senior Leadership on Child Care and Mental Health: Researched, discussed and developed advice regarding child care and mental health issues of greatest importance to military families.
Recognized outstanding contributions on Council: Recognized Hilary for her important leadership as Chair in the Council’s inaugural year and recognized LCol Cheryl Baldwin for her adept mentorship of the Council.
Met with national agencies serving families: Candace, Marcia and Terry met with Family Resource Programs of Canada and Veteran’s Affairs Canada in Feb 2011 to engage in a dialogue of how to work together for betterment of military families.
Met with Director Military Family Services: Met and discussed issues in Feb 2011 impacting military families with Director Military Family Services and learned more about their plans and promotions for the 20th Anniversary of the Military Family Services Program.
Met with CF Health Services and CF Member’s Assistance Program staff: Met via teleconference in May 2011, staff ion CF Health Services to learn more about mental health programming offered to military families.
Met with Ombudsman’s Office: Met and discussed issues in Feb 2011 impacting military families with CF Ombudsman’s Office.
Met with CMP: Arranged to speak with CMP in Feb 2011 on issues of importance to CF families.
Started developing dynamic content for public website: Videos created in Feb 2011 featuring Marcia, Candace, Terry and Kathy, which will help to make the public website more dynamic and family-friendly.
Robust recruitment process: Assisted in the development and implementation of a robust, transparent and accountable recruitment process (improvements in communication, criteria, documentation, etc.).
Developed foundational documents: Discussed, drafted, reviewed and voted on many foundational documents for the NMFC, such as voting documents, Chair and Vice-Chair descriptions, membership document, etc.
Compelling presentation to CDS and his senior military leadership: Presented a compelling message to Armed Forces Council in Oct 2010, all of which were chosen by CMP to guide his direction to DMFS for no-cost and low-cost initiatives for 2011
Review of family service enhancements: Reviewed and assessed 31 enhancements from MFSP and developed top five priorities for CF families
NMFC Teamsite: Developed and became fluent with an intra-NMFC website that allowed for combined feedback on documents, sharing of research, online discussion, polling of member, Military Mentor updates and sharing of photos
NMFC Familyforce public site: Developed and revised public face of the NMFC in the Familyforce domain
