Deployment Briefings
To guide you through a family member’s absence due to a military duty, we offer a variety of briefings to suit you and your family’s deployment needs, including pre-deployment, mid-deployment, and reintegration briefings.
Road to Mental Readiness (R2MR)
R2MR is a series of information sessions geared towards helping family members of deployed loved ones navigate through the emotional cycle of deployment, including pre-deployment, reintegration, and post-deployment.
Operation Keep in Touch (OP KIT) Updates
The Operation Keep in Touch program is here to ensure that families of Canadian Forces members have the opportunity to stay connected to CFB Petawawa and PMFRC activities and services during any time of deployment.
Children’s Programs
Deployment Rest & relaxation (R&R)
Families with Children Ages 0 - 12
Deployment R&R is open to all families experiencing a deployment. R&R provides 3.5 hours of free child care to support families who have a military member away. Participation is limited to one 3.5 hour session per family per month.
How to utilize R&R:
R&R Voucher for Casual Child Care
Families of deployed soldiers are entitled to one 3.5 hour voucher per month to access PMFRC Child Care services. Vouchers can only be redeemed Monday to Friday 8:00 am 4:00 pm for children aged 0-6.
R&R Reimbursement
Receive your 3.5 hours of R&R anytime that is convenient for you with the child care provider of your choice. The refund can be used for children aged 0-12.
Children’s Deployment Support Program (CDSP)
The Children’s Deployment Support Program is a peer support program delivered bi-weekly in the local schools (JK to Grade 8). Pre, during and post-deployment sessions help the children to understand their feelings, the changes, and possible stressors associated with deployments. In a safe, comfortable environment, the children learn positive living skills and age-appropriate stress management strategies to help them with their deployment situation.
Also, the Children’s Deployment Support Program is available to support schools of families involved in the incidents.

Mind Masters & Mini Masters
Ages 6 – 12 and Ages 3 – 5
Mind Masters & Mini Masters is a program from the Child & Youth Health Network of Eastern Ontario that helps children build positive living skills that they can use for the rest of their lives.
Fun FRIENDS and FRIENDS for Life
Fun FRIENDS and FRIENDS for Life programs are part of the FRIENDS programming that helps children and teenagers cope with feelings of fear, worry, and depression. Offered by the PMFRC is partnership with the Phoenix Centre for Children & Families.
Teen Programs
Youth Deployment Support Program (Grade 8 to 12)
As part of the Children’s Deployment Support Program, support is provided at the local high schools and within the community for teens of deployed Canadian Forces members to share their experiences with others. YDSP differs from CDSP and is not offered bi-weekly in schools The Deployment Support Programmer is available to local high schools and their support counsellors to provide deployment resources as needed, and is also available for youth drop in appointments where required/requested. Parent Programs

General Programs
Deployment Monthly Activities
In partnership with the Deployment Support Centre (DSC), the PMFRC’s Deployment Services Team hosts monthly activities for Canadian Forces family members who have a loved one deployed. Open to families with and without children.
