Private Home Day Care (PHDC) is an alternative for families in our community who would prefer that their children spend their days in a home environment.
Caregiver Opportunities
We are in need of full-time caregivers for children aged six weeks to twelve years of age.
Benefits of Becoming a PHDC Provider
- Competitive rates

- Caregiver get-togethers for sharing and support
- Supplementary equipment and toys provided
- Pay is guaranteed
- Self-employment benefits
Becoming a PHDC Caregiver
It is a multi-step process to become a PHDC Caregiver.
Required record keeping
Caregivers are expected to maintain the following records in accordance with the Day Nurseries Act:
- Daily Time Sheets
- Toy Lending Library forms;
- Observation sheets, accident reports, and medication authorization forms as required; and
- Menus
Payment
Our caregivers are paid bi-weekly by direct deposit.
Vacation
We need two weeks’ notice from caregivers for any time off so that other approved caregivers can be contacted to provide backup care.
Support
We act as a resource for caregivers. If a parent or caregiver is having difficulty in any area concerning the child care arrangement, a home visitor or other agency employee will assist.
Status
Caregivers are not considered employees, but rather independent contractors. For income tax purposes, caregivers are self-employed small businesses, and therefore entitled to numerous deductions.
