Opening your home to children and beginning your small business venture as a Private Home Day Care (PHDC) caregiver is a three-step process. Before you begin the process, you must first complete the application form.
Step One - Screening Phase
Our Private Home Day Care Home Visitor will come to your home to review the policies and procedures of our program. The Home Visitor will also make recommendations regarding anything you might need to do to meet our Health and Safety Standards. This includes ensuring that the home is smoke free.
Our Home Visitor will also ask you (and anyone over the age of 18 living in your home) to complete the following forms:
- Consent to Disclosure of Personal Information
- Consent and Authorization for Family and Child Services of Renfrew County Check
Step Two - Fire Inspection & Insurance Arrangements
The Fire Inspector will schedule a visit to your home to ensure it is compliant with the fire department’s health and safety guidelines. You will also need to arrange with your home insurance company to add Child Care Liability Insurance to your coverage.
Step Three - Health & Safety Inspection
A Health and Safety Inspection is conducted by our Home Visitor once all the required documents have been approved by our office.
