About Us

DMFS (Director Military Family Services)
MFRCs are incorporated, and in large part, publicly funded not-for-profit organizations mandated by DMFS (Director Military Family Services) to deliver services to families of CF personnel. Mandated services are offered at every C/MFRC.

DMFS is located at National Defence Headquarters (NDHQ) in Ottawa, and is the authoritative entity for setting standards, implementing and monitoring funding and the overall Military Family Services Program (MFSP) on behalf of the Department of National Defence (DND).

In 2004, the DMFS released a "Parameters of Practice" document detailing the philosophical framework, structure and accountability, service standards, service delivery model, and funding methodology for the Military Family Services Program (MFSP).

MFSP (Military Family Services Program) & MFRCs (Military Family Resource Centres)
The Military Family Services Program (MFSP) formally began in 1991 to provide services and programs to assist CF families cope with the stresses of frequent postings, separation and childcare concerns and employment instability.  The MFSP embodies all C/MFRCs.

Military Family Resource Centres (MFRCs) are structured to provide families with an active role in developing services. This is possible because they are governed by an elected Board of Directors with a minimum of 51% being civilian spouses of CF members.

CSMFRC (Central Saskatchewan Military Family Resource Centre)
The Central Saskatchewan Military Family Resource Centre was incorporated on October 28, 1992 as a non-profit corporation. Since that time, a number of services and programs have been developed that focus on the unique needs of military families.  This is done through the dedicated work of staff and volunteers and the invaluable input of our community.

The CSMFRC is centrally located on Detachment Dundurn. Its service area, however, encompasses all of Saskatchewan north & west of Yorkton, SK. It supports a number of reserve units including 737 Communication Squadron, North Saskatchewan Regiment, HMCS Unicorn, 16 Service Battalion & 64 Battery 10 Field Regiment in Yorkton. This is in addition to the regular force units from the detachment & CFAD (Canadian Forces Ammunition Depot).
