Volunteer Leadership and Community Involvement

Volunteerism
The MFSP (Military Family Services Program) has been developed with Volunteer Leadership and Community Involvement as the foundation of the entire program.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful,
committed people can change the world.
Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."
Margaret Mead

“The MFSP supports communities to meet their changing needs and encourages community members to take advantage of opportunities for personal growth and development”. (Parameters for Practice, 2004, p. 25).

Members of a community are in the best position to know their own needs. Therefore the community as a whole benefits when members of that community are actively involved in ensuring the vitality of their community. The MFSP is designed to provide meaningful opportunities for volunteer involvement – on Boards of Directors and Advisory Committees of MFRCs, in service design, delivery, and evaluation and fundraising.

Volunteering leads to personal growth and development, and to community engagement, both of which are key Military Family Services Program (MFSP) goals. Opportunities exist throughout the CSMFRC Inc. for meaningful volunteer involvement – on the Board of Directors or Board Standing and Ad Hoc Committees, Child Care Centre and Parent Advisory Council, in Fundraising and Special Events, in addition to service delivery, design and evaluation. The list goes on . . .

When members of a community are actively engaged in the life of their community, the community as a whole benefits… Since members of a community are often in the best position to know their own needs, true community involvement engages family members in planning, designing, delivering and evaluating services.

MFSP (Military Family Support Program) has been developed with Volunteer Leadership and Community Involvement as the foundation of the entire program.

You, the volunteers continue to be the backbone of the CSMFRC Inc.’s success!
Thank you.

If you wish to pursue a volunteer position and/or need more information please don’t hesitate to contact the CSMFRC. We look forward to hearing from you!
