Youth Drop In Evenings
The Rathskeller / Bowling Alley open one Friday evening per month for CF youth and their friends to kick back and relax. We have pool tables, air hockey, Wii, PS2, XBOX 360, huge screen, foosball, ping-pong table, DVD, CD player…all for you to enjoy. Feel free to bring your own games.
Girls on the Go!
This program is designed specifically for girls 11 and older to address issues of fitness, nutrition, positive self-image etc. in a fun, open and relaxing atmosphere. Sessions include guest speakers, field trips and other activities as determined by the group. All are welcome…sorry guys, girls only!!!
Specialty Nights
These fun evenings are scheduled monthly:
- Dinner and a movie night
- Halloween, Christmas etc. parties
- Karaoke night
Outings
Field trips are planned frequently and include paintball, indoor wall climbing, swimming, movies, skating and ski trip.
Parent Advisory Committee
The St. John’s MFRC Parent Advisory Committee is a collection of parents of CF children and youth who meet monthly and assist the St. John’s MFRC develop, promote and facilitate child / youth based services and resources and to encourage Military Youth and Children to have opportunities for social interaction and learning.
Summer and Easter Camps
The St. John’s MFRC offers a series of dynamic camps for children and youth. Camps are divided into two groups ages 6-9 and 10 and older both are bountiful with fun, active and educational activities to maintain the interest of each participant
Casual Childcare
This program is designed to provide quality childcare for children 0-5 years of age. It gives your child the opportunity to socialize and interact with other children their age. The program runs every second Friday morning from 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon from September to June. So, if you have a doctor appointment, job interview, need to shop alone or just need a break, this service is for you. Spaces are limited and you must pre-register.
Playgroup
This program is designed to provide a stimulating environment for children 1-5 years of age and parents/caregivers through social activity and learning experiences. Parents/caregivers will benefit from meeting other parents in the community and children will learn to socialize through play and interaction. Join us every Tuesday and Thursday morning 9:30-11:30 and Friday afternoon from 1:30-3:00.
Baby Group
Baby group is a program for expectant parents and parents of a new baby. Group facilitators and participants decide topics for discussion, visiting guests and outings. This program provides parents of a new baby with information, links to community resources, and some opportunities for social time. Older brothers and sisters who attend this group are provided with activities so parents may spend a little time with their newest child, This group meets Wednesday morning 10:00-12:00 noon.
Kindergarten Readiness Group
This program is offered on a needs basis. It starts in January and continues through until the spring. It runs for one hour a week and during this time the children will work on various skills that will help make the child's steps toward kindergarten a little less stressful and a lot more enjoyable. Together as a group we will work on skills such as printing, letter and number recognition, listening skills, one-to-one correspondence, and so much more. This program is offered to children who will be attending kindergarten in the fall.
