We are pleased to provide you with information on the Trenton Military Family Resource Centre's Doula Program that offers prenatal education, labour support and postpartum assistance to any requesting woman in the military community.
The role of the Military Family Resource Centre (MFRC) Doula Program is to offer service, resources and support to military families and the military community. To accomplish this, we provide a specialized Doula program and services that promote health, education and social well being for expectant and new families.
It is our belief that the MFRC Doula Program will help provide a much-needed service by addressing the needs of the military childbearing population.
It is our aim in offering the Doula Program to address these identified areas of need specific to the expectant family. As you are aware the military family often faces added challenges due to frequent moves, unfamiliar locations, language barriers, monetary issues, and long distances from family and friends. For the expectant military family these challenges can often be intensified.
The MFRC Doula Program is designed to offer any assistance required by the expectant military family by matching each requesting woman with a professional doula.
Assistance currently available:
- Prenatal visits
- Assistance with developing a childcare plan for older siblings during delivery
- Support during Labour and immediate postpartum period
- Postpartum assistance
- Referrals to appropriate agencies
- Prenatal classes
